Living arrangements when retiring
Living arrangements can be quite problematic for the family of a retiree and the retiree himself.
This is especially true if the retiree has serious health concerns. There are several options for a retiree when it comes to living arrangements. However, despite the options the actual decision making is a hard process since many factors need to be considered including:
- the retiree’s health condition - If the retiree is extremely ill home care might be out of the question. Climate might also be an issue depending on the person’s health.
- the retiree’s wishes - Does the retiree wish to live independently? Does he/she wish to stay close to family members?
- the family’s wishes - Is the family willing to take in the retiree or to allow the retiree to live in a home? Is there someone to take care of the retiree at home if sick?
- location - Is there a community or a home suitable for the retiree whose distance is acceptable to the family?
- finances - Does the family and the retiree have enough to cover costs of a quality accommodations?
